Designing an LED Retail Experience That Increased Dwell Time by 55%

A national electronics retail chain was opening a flagship experience store in Mumbai — designed to showcase premium audio, smart home, and gaming products in an immersive environment. Static posters and standard shelf talkers would not match the ambition. They needed visual communication that moved, responded to the space, and gave customers a reason to stay longer.
The Challenge
The store featured a 40-foot curved LED wall as its centrepiece, but the content strategy was undefined. Previous store openings had used generic manufacturer loops that customers ignored. The client wanted original motion content tied to their brand — synchronized with in-store zones, adaptable for product launches, and technically compatible with the LED processor's specifications.
Our Approach
Creavate's visual communication team treated the LED wall as a brand surface, not a screen. We developed a content system with modular loops that could be updated without a full redesign.
- —Mapped customer journey zones and designed content sequences matched to each area's product category
- —Created a 3-minute hero loop combining motion graphics, product cinematography, and ambient brand moments
- —Built six modular 30-second segments for seasonal campaigns and new product launches
- —Delivered files in the LED processor's native resolution and colour profile to avoid banding and latency
- —Designed complementary wayfinding graphics and shelf-edge visuals for visual consistency beyond the wall
- —Provided a content update playbook so the client's in-house team could swap segments independently
The Results
Post-opening observational studies showed average dwell time in the flagship zone increased 55% compared to the client's next-best store format. Social media mentions tagging the store location tripled in the launch month, driven largely by customers photographing and sharing the LED installation.
The modular content system meant the client refreshed campaign segments four times in the first year without re-engaging the agency for full production — reducing ongoing content costs by an estimated 60%.
The LED wall went from a hardware expense to the thing people actually come in to see. That shift in how customers experience the store was exactly what we were after.
